What do we do?

Bike repair and rebuild

Spokes enables individuals with social, physical or learning difficulties to be actively involved in the repair and rebuilding of bikes. By offering day opportunities, we aim to improve their quality of life through the work environment. This means that Spokes is an ACTIVE RECYCLER of bikes that would otherwise be scrapped.

The aims of Spokes:

  • Raise awareness of the need for proper bike maintenance in the community
  • Service & Repair bikes to ensure they're roadworthy
  • Run Maintenance and Road Safety courses for young people

To help achieve these aims Spokes runs a maintenance service for Stourport High School. They have over 45 of our bikes for their pupils to use as part of their Physical Education lessons. We service these regularly to make them safe.

Spokes run after-school Bike Clubs through local Primary Schools, enabling pupils to maintain their bikes safely and correctly. From time to time we take part in community-based events, such as the Borrington Bash and Wolverley Carnival.

In the future:

Spokes aims to build up this business, run by some of these young people, with the support they need.
