BMX Club
Spokes held a BMX Club in the summer of 2008 for children to fix their BMXs and make them safe. Once completed, they tried out the new BMX track in Stourport where the local councillor presented medals and trophies. This was a great success.
Stourport High School
We have 45 bikes at Stourport High School which are used by the pupils. We service these regularly to ensure they are safe. This is a very exciting development, especially as it promotes Spokes to a large and varied group of people associated with the school.
Oldington and Foley Park Bike Club
This is an after school club that takes place at Birchen Coppice Primary School. For ten weeks, eight pupils are taught key skills so they can repair their bikes. They have the time to learn at their own pace, whilst making their bikes roadworthy. Set up in 2008, the Club continues to go from strength to strength.
College Students
Spokes has been working with the Team Enterprise students from Kidderminster College for several years. Students with Learning Difficulties come to us for one morning a week for 20 weeks, in order to learn key bike skills.
Working together, the students can build several bikes to a high standard. These are then donated to Bikes 4 Africa, a charity that donates bikes to children in Africa so they can cycle the many miles to school instead of walking. For more information visit www.bikes4africa.eu
