How Does Spokes Operate

What do we need?

Spokes obtains its raw material - scrap or unwanted bicycles - from local residents and companies. If you have any second-hand bikes available please deliver them to us for recycling. It will help young people.

What happens to the bikes?

At Spokes, your used bike donations are taken apart by the young people, who have been trained to do this by the employees and volunteers in the business. These volunteers are a vital part of the operation - we are very grateful to them for their hard work and are always looking for more help. Are you interested?

This 'in depth' training gives the individuals many new skills and develops their confidence and self esteem. In addition an assessment is made as to their future ability. So many of them have been told they cannot do anything with their lives - they can and should be given the opportunity! Once the bikes have been rebuilt to a CYTECH standards they are offered for sale from the Spokes unit, directly to the public.
