What is Spokes CIC?

a. Why was SPOKES set up?
Spokes has been established in Kidderminster to provide work based employment preparation and training to both young adults and adults with learning difficulties. Spokes also aims to provide adults who have suffered from previous difficulties or injuries, or those who find the workplace impossible to deal with, a worthwhile opportunity to develop relationships and communication through work activities. Spokes is also developing to offer Young People who do not necessarily have learning difficulties but nevertheless have problems within a school environment the opportunity to learn engineering skills, and at the same time mix and relate to individuals with learning difficulties. These are key requirements for our business.

Spokes has obtained CIC (Community Interest Company) status and as such the operation runs on a 'not for profit' basis, with the primary beneficiaries being the individuals working at it. Any profits that result will be reinvested in the business for its development.

The Young adults and adults who are being trained for future work positions, of who will have permanent positions within the organisation.
